Status Report - Summer 2008
I know it's been a moment since my last post, so I just wanted to give everyone a quick update. I promise I haven't abandoned this blog – I've just been seriously overloaded with work! Things are (thankfully) approaching a more normal pace over here, though... and I have a few partially-written articles that I'm looking forward to sharing with everyone very soon!
Expression Engine site up!
After a VERY interesting weekend playing with Expression Engine, the site is back up – and running on it. It's not quite finished yet, so you'll notice things may look a little screwy for the next few days. (Comments are disabled, prev/next links aren't there, pagination isn't turned on, etc... just little stuff, mainly.)
I'll definitely post a (highly positive) write-up later this week about all of this, but I've got a busy schedule for the next few days!
Lab Experiment 1 - Expression Engine
Hello, if anyone is reading! Just making a quick post to let you all know I'm doing some experimenting this weekend... and the site will likely be down today and tomorrow.
I'm pullin' out a fresh bag of espresso beans and playing with Expression Engine over the weekend, if you must know. Yes, this site is currently hand-coded... and I'm quite proud of that fact. I honestly think my latest CMS version is miles ahead most of the other ones out there. However, I've had some really cool project requests that would require me to use Expression Engine, and it seems very nice... so I'm going to attempt porting my site over into it over the weekend. (If it works as well as I'm currently thinking, I may start doing most of my sites with it! Yes, it really is that good...)
FCKeditor and AVG 8.0
The other day, I noticed that the pages in my CMS containing FCKeditor elements were suddenly taking a LONG time to load... like, 20-30 seconds! This became maddenly frustrating, and searching the forums at FCKeditor.net was not giving me an answer.
Design Resources Search Engine
Here's a very interesting and possibly useful tool... The title pretty much says it all.
